I ran several unofficial runs now including:
Top of Utah marathon with brother George this summer (2009, Ogden, Utah), Park City Marathon with my friend Leslie this summer, and a 50-miler along the west coastline of LA with Ernie roller blading, and about 34 miles with Ernie around Palos Verdes Pennisula in Los Angles. Next week we are going to try to Pony Express 50-miler (Utah) and perhaps in the spring the St. George, Utah 50-K.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep off the 10 pounds I lost over the summer, try to keep up 50 miles a week on various runs, and eventually to loose another 10 pounds within the next year (from 160 to the 149/150 range).

Long-Term Running Goals:

Regular exercize to keep my mood and health at optimum levels of functioning. I want to live a long, happy life!

Personal:

Married (husband: Ernie Horstmanshoff), three step-children, two grandchildren

Not so good today. I wasn't too sore and made a good start. Ernie was determined to run with me but he was hungry so we changed our route to go by a food place and towards the end of the afternoon the wind picked up and I was freezing. Ernie made some jokes about now being ready to start the race after eating and after my run yesterday and being so cold, I was not in a joking mood and told him I would probably have to quit early. It was a lovely run and if the weather had been nicer I'm sure we would have continued until after dark... Another time I guess.

39 miles in two days sounds awesome to me!!! We are going to have a blast. 10 more days! I am putting a list together of items to have in the car and will pass them on to you. Hopefully between the two of us we will have everything we need. Jana is excited to crew us. Make sure Ernie brings his video camera!!

I forgot to tell you, Jana and I drove out to the start. It took over an hour from the time we left I-15 at Lehi. So we are thinking to leave my house at 4:00am! You guys should spend the night, Jana will probably sleep over too.

Thanks April! Where did you see the race bio? I didn't know they had it posted yet. You are so awesome to look me up. Hope it isn't getting too cold already in the midwest!

Thanks Leslie for updating me. Ernie is getting really excited too! We'll plan to spend the night there so we can get off early. I told Ernie to look for the video recorder.

Thanks April for the positive comments! I forgot to mention the reason we planned the wedding for after a marathon is that we had to go to Canada to get married (same-sex marriage). Ernie, my husband, has been a great supporter of my running. I didn't want to offend anyone with my bio so I didn't mention this, but decided to add his name to my bio after learning that people actually read it. We love being married! He is going to come run with me next week on a 50-miler (Pony Express, Utah 50 Miler). Anyway, thanks for taking the time to say hi.

a late congratulations to you! That is wonderful! I wish more states made it legal for same sex marriage...then again if they did my brother may be married and divorced a few times by now LOL

I think it is great that he shares your love of running! I wish my SO did....well sometimes--usually I like solo running b/c that is my 'me' time!
